MX-4101n scanning colored paper document as B/W

Have a customer scanning to email that has service cards which are printed on colored paper. Blue and orange are two of the colors and not sure of the others. When scanning or copying these pages the machine outputs in B/W despite being in full color or auto mode and using the color start button. Trouble is he claims it was working previously. When scanning or copying a different item with multiple colors on a white sheet the machine outputs in color as you would expect. Any ideas?

Figured out what was causing this to happen. Apparently they were actually choosing the original size instead of auto/8.5x11 and the machine didn't have a white background to go off of causing the scan to show up as white (or VERY VERY light orange). When auto size was chosen the page showed up as orange correctly. Also, by choosing the actual original size and choosing text/printed photo exposure mode they were able to get it to scan correctly.

Thanks for the update - I wish more techs would do that.
