        Description: Details:
        Procedure: Note:
Sharp MFPs can scan to any computer running FTP. In some cases scan to FTP may be the best choice for scanning.
File Transfer Protocol can run on all current operating systems. The Sharp MFP configuration will be almost the same for all operating systems.
Follow these steps to configure the MFP for scanning to FTP.
These steps are the minimum for scanning to the FTP root folder with anonymous access. See page 2 for advanced configurations
        1. Open the MFP web page.
        2. Click the link for Address Book.
        3. Click on the Add button.
        4. Choose FTP in the Address Type drop down menu.
        5. Type a Name for this destination in the Address Name field.
        6. Type in the IP Address (preferred) or Hostname of the FTP server.
        7. Click the Submit button.

If nothing is entered for Initial or Key Name, the information from the Address Name field will be used.
If there is a folder under the FTP root on the server, the name of the folder can be entered in the Directory field. If there are subfolders they could be entered in this format:
        Documents/Scans
Some FTP servers will not allow anonymous access. In these cases a User Name and Password must be entered. To enter a password, click the box next to Change Password to activate the Password field and then enter the password.

            Re: mac scanning

Here is an old PDF that I created to explain how to do this (it's for Mac OSX 10.4.11).

While the newer versions are different, it gives a decent idea of some of the necessary steps (especially important is the sudo command to enable FTP on OSX 10.7 or later).

I'll probably update this PDF for OSX10.8 when I get time.

                Re: mac scanning

I had a little time and updated this PDF for Mac OSX10.8 (and probably exactly same for OSX10.7).

It's fairly simple and I show how to find the Mac's hostname, in case they are using DHCP.
