Ok, so I have a customer that has the above mentioned set-up (MX-5111N w/ MX-LC11 (large capacity hopper), with 4 regular trays as well.
Another tech was out at their request to set trays 3 and 4 to cascade. He did some things to attempt this and thought it was working, but the customer stated it never worked. They just dealt with it and added paper when the tray was out. Now their jobs have changed and they are requesting that we have the machine cascade (auto-switch trays) on all 4 of the regular trays, and still leaving the default to the LC11.
I have been everywhere I can think of and clicked everything I think I should and unclicked everything else. I made sure on the machine especially that the "auto switch trays" box is checked.... etc. I just am not 100% sure what the previous tech may have done to "introduce" this issue, or if it is something else.
So, I am not sure if it is something the previous tech did... or just something I am missing. But I just cannot get the machine to cascade at all in print mode. When I step up to the machine and copy there is no problem. I pick the tray (tray 1) because if I don't it will default to the LC11. It pulls the page from tray 1, briefly pauses and tells me via the display to add paper to tray one, but then keeps right on going and pulls from tray 2.
Step away from the machine, and go to print, and no matter what I try to do (see above... click, unclick, change..etc). It stops at tray 1 and says add paper, never finishing the job. EVERYTHING stays the same with the only difference being copy works fine, print does not.
I have tried to replicate this issue in our office, but have been unsuccessful. Everything seems to just always cascade (auto-switch). I am thinking it has something to do with the LC11, but cannot verify or test that because we do not have one in our office/demo.... and it just so happens this is the only one we have in the field as well.
I know that is probably long winded and someone probably knows the issue right away, but I wanted to give as many details as possible just in case I am not completely overlooking something simple.
THANKS TECHS!!!!
