    mx4501 and excel print problem

i have a customer that prints excel spread sheets with some of the lines highlighted in color (green, red and dark blue)
the text in the highlighted areas have like a halo around them (process black) which makes it kinda hard to read (nevermind black text highlighted by dark colors LOL)

any way, thought this was a copier issue at first and repl pcu's and dv for all. and calibrated. copies look outstanding now except for these prints.

next step i updated the print driver and still have the problem (but improved slightly)

called are IT guy and he suggested to try the "print text to blk" (not the exact wording)

but this turns color off completley making it a B/W doc. cant have color and this enabled.

    any suggestions

unfortunatley i didnt think to try another program such as paint or what ever and create a colored block and put blk text in it, until I already left

Not sure about the 4501, but the newer color Sharps have a check box in the print driver called "trapping" which addresses the shadowing issue.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

You will need to have the PostScript option installed and use the PostScript driver.
Then on the Color tab of the PostScript driver change the Image Type to Custom. Make sure the Black Overprint checkbox is checked.
Now when the document is printed the color background is printed without a knockout area for the text. The background is printed solid and the black text is printed on top of the background.
This is not available in the PCL driver.
This series of machines do not have Trapping feature in the driver.

Had similar issue with a 3501 and I changed the print driver setting; printing preferences; advanced; graphics mode from vector to raster and it took care of the issue. The only problem is that it takes longer to print, significantly longer sometimes.

          Good luck.

ok stopped back by today and changed it to raster. which solved the halo effect around the black letters. didnt seem to effect the print time here though.

buuttt now in the colored areas there are pink/white small spots/blobs. like what u would see if u had a bad spot on your transfer belt and the toner didnt get transferred on the bad area. tried solid sky shots of each color and there is no spots at all on the copier side.
