We have a library district who bought a number of Sharp MX-B201D mfp's with fax and network option (machine requires network option for fax to be installed). Only at the multiple locations for this customer do we have this problem: More often than not, when sending as a memory transmission, the line status light will come on briefly, then go out a few seconds later;not enough time to dial out. Then, usually, when the machine tries again on the second or third try, it succeeds. From the time interval for the redial, it looks like the machine is interpreting the initial failure as a busy rather than an error, but it wouldn't be a busy on the receiving end, since it's not online enough time to even dial. We played with different settings, and set one setting for "threshold of electric current in fax starting" to "current is disregarded", and it seemed to help, but that was just the first machine.
I don't have a lot of knowledge at that level on fax options in MFP's, so I'm wondering it anyone has seen anything like this, or can shed light on the subject of current at the start of a fax job. FYI, the library's phone system does require a code for long distance, but this issue has happened with both local and long distance dialing.
