Does this happen from both the glass and doc feeder (if it has one)?

If it is happening from the glass, most likely the mirrors are not parallel. Do you get a good test print from 61-04? You need to isolate the problem from the optics.

Your original post said to see attachment, but I didn't see one - that would be most helpful.
So, if you believe it's the PTU, you must have same issue whether it is a print or copy - right?

I ran the Sim 61-04 ,the LSU self print doesnt have the shading, but anytime I make a copy from the document glass or from the bypass the shading shows.

              Thats the attachment.

Though I havent tried it with with the printing, but with the 61-04 there is no shading but with the coping the shading is obvious.

Make sure all the adjustments for the scanner (ADJ 11 in SM) are good. Is the copier near a window? It almost looks like sunlight might be affecting the exposure.

Believe I'd be looking in the optics too. Start with the adjustments outta the book. Just my .02.
