    Sharp MX 310 Light Prints

    Hi!

I have a Sharp MX-310 that is printing light prints. I've seen this problem on other systems and have used the cleaning wand to clean the laser glass but I do not see it on this unit.

We changed the toner cartridge but the images still look light.

    Any suggestions on this one?

    Thanks!

As soon as you said you changed the toner, I cringed a little. So you're an end user, it's okay! We can still try to help you.

Firstly - don't change your toner unless the machine says "Toner empty, change toner". Else you're just throwing away perfectly good toner. This isn't an inkjet piece of crap, it is not as simple as "it's getting light, must be time to change the ink!". Your service technician should have explained that...

Secondly, because fixing this requires taking out pieces of the machine, I would highly recommend a trained Sharp technician should be the one to work on it, if the drum unit or developer units get damaged for one reason or another, your repair will be much more costly than a 30 second cleaning.

Lastly, the parts in the MXM310 are designed around 100k cycles, at 100,000 copies/prints the drum unit, charge unit, cleaning blade and developer need to be changed, and every 100k after that. The fuser is the only exception, still designed around the smaller 75k cycle, however it's a durable part, and has thusly been rated for 150k pages before replacement is recommended.

Contact your local Sharp representative and ask them if they can come clean up your machine for you.

Are you using Sharp toner or a generic?

Always clean the td sensor with cloth while changing developer, run sim 25-2.
Andromeda series never has printing quality issue.
