    Sharp AR-208D "Software Disks"

Alright, let me start off by saying this, NEVER BUY USED EQUIPMENT!

Now that I got that out my system, I have a Sharp AR-208D with a AR-NB2A attached to it. The issue I'm having is, I'm unable to connect to the AR or the NB via webpage, I'm unable to locate it on the network and finally, the damn thing won't even appear on the AR's LCD (no settings, menus, etc.) I have old AR software disks from a previous installation but they don't seem to work and since this machine was bought used by our amazing sales people, it didn't come with it's own disks. Does any one know where I can purchase these disks? Is the software available for download?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

On the NB2A press the small switch while powering on (with the network cable plugged in) - this will give a print out of your network settings with the IP address; you should then be able to access web page.
Note: the USB from the print controller goes to the upper USB connector of the machine.

        Hey ZOOTECH,

I've tried this numerous times; holding the switch while turning the machine on, holding the switch by itself, holding the switch in different modes (Copy/Scan/Fax) but it never prints out the configuration pages.

All the cables are plugged. I've even tried different USB and network cables.

On the SharpUSA website, the only thing they list as software are all "Driver Packages".

If you can't find what you need there I would look on the IDNC site.

Wrong info posted (from memory); the AR208D does not have an upper USB connector. I believe (again from memory) that holding the push button while powering up will set the print controller to defaults.
With the machine powered up, press and hold the push button until the engine starts up will give the print out of current configuration.

On the Sharp IDNC website they have the same software that's on the discs that I already have.

Nope, no upper USB connection on the AR-208D just a Type B connection. The AR-NB2A has the Type A port.

And what I meant by "switch" was "push button". I tried it all when it came to the that little button.

I'm having a similar issue with a 168D although I have not spent much time troubleshooting. Have you found a solution to your issue yet our any updates would definitely be appreciated. My sales staff as well will inevitably be bringing in a 208D w/o disks do I'm definitely interested. Thanks and good luck! For what it's worth I though I saw the disks in the "Software" section of idnc.

                      Hey teklife256,

I was actually able to remedy the situation. I installed the software discs that were made just for the AR-208D, then I installed the software discs that were made for the AR-208D with the AR-NB2A. All of that has to be done before connecting the machine (USB or Ethernet). Once all the software was installed successfully, I then proceded to connect the machine to the network and lo and behold it was on the network and working properly. I'm not sure what the hell made it work but I know that installing the discs sepereately didn't work. I thought just using the AR-208D with AR-NB2A would fix the problem but apparently you have to use the AR-208D software by itself and then NB2A discs. (Although when I did a file extraction from the discs to keep on a thumb drive, they were pretty much identical, except for the stuff that was obiviously for the NB2A.)

This has been a very strange, long, troubleshooting session for me and it came down to the simiplest solution.

As for the AR-208D, all I can say is Sharp made a mistake and cleaned it up by discontinuing this P.O.S.

The small button when held down after warmup should generate a config page. To reset the NB2A hold the button down while turning on power and keep holding for up to 20 minutes. I use a magnet over the hole to keep it pressed. Pretty sure a page prints once the reset is complete.
