    Firmware Update Fail!!!

After updating the firmware on B402 from a usb stick the machine restarts and the screen is scrambled. Printing is still possible as is access to the mfp webpage. Then I attempt to update the firmware to an older version on the idnc site with the same result. From the mfp serviceman webpage I try again the firmware update with the oldest version with the same scrambled screen result. All the updates attempted produced a successful message.

On top of this tech support has their own greater issues with Jersey weather and unfortunately unavailable.

I read something about an emUpdate/emergency firmware update......

Any help would definetly be appreciated.

Great...Thanks for the idea. Anybody else have troubleshooting advice? I had heard horror stories of failed firmware installs and they have me a healthy respect for the old adage "If it aint broke......

However, it seemed this update would address a scanning issue.

I did an update on a 402 with the "special firmware release", it scrambled the screen just like you mentioned.

I had the most updated prior to that release, so I just loaded that. I am fairly familiar with the firmware update process on the machine, so I updated the firmware from the touch panel even though I couldn't see anything. Luckily that worked.

Tomorrow morning I will try the update at the mfp with the firmware prior to the 'Special' update. Crossing my fingers bur, but not holding my breath

Yeah, good luck. It can be tough to do since you can't really see anything. You might want to bring along a copy of the screenshots for where you will need to push the buttons.

                  Firmware update fail

I have seen memory cause the screen to become scrambled. Try running Sim 62 to see if RAM test fails.

Hopefully the latest before "special" firmware , at MFP itself will do the trick

Updating at the mfp worked. Huge sigh of relief! Not sure I will be ready for another firmware update anytime soon. Just a little traumatized....

                      Btw...Thanks

Awesome, I think this might be my first "confirmed" helpful post on here! haha

I think you will be OK. I have done a lot of firmware updates without ANY issues. I think I will stay away from ANY "SPECIAL RELEASES" though. YIKES!

                          Re: Firmware Update Fail!!!

Future reference - if you have the firmware file and can access the web page, you can do the firmware update on there with the same firmware files as done by USB.

Access the webpage at (IP.Address.Here.ToGo)/service_login.html to get to the service webpage. From there, firmware can be updated over the web. It takes slightly longer than a USB update, but it'll save you a hassle if you're not familiar with where the buttons are supposed to be located.

I have done what Akitu said and it worked fine. Brand new out of the box to be reboxed and shipped to a truly remote location.

Hopefully not somewhere dirty, or you and they might both grow to dislike it! Are they able to ship it back with ease?

                              Glad I helped.
