    AR-M550N DF image distortion

This problem only seems to occur on plain 8.5 X 11, 20lb paper. It happens on the first side (CCD), but I did not see it on 2nd side (CIS). On the attachment, you will see the lines are not straight on the front or rear edge and if you look into the wording it looks like the distortion goes off into an angle in all 4 corners

    I have not tried scanning 8.5 X 14 or 11 X 17.
I tried heavier stock once or twice and seemed fine.

The feed rollers are good, I replaced the transport rollers before and after the slit glass. Replaced the slit glass unit for the optics and CIS.

I am thinking it is something stupid, but have not figured it out yet.

Will have to check my older machine histories. We had this happen quite a bit when these first came out but I can't remember what the cause was. Will try to look it up today for you.

    Good luck.

Check your hinge on the left side looking from the front. If you press down directly on the hinge while making a copy you should see that the distortion is changed or gone altogether. I have only had this on one machine but had to replace the hinge.

Well, thanks for your help. I was right, it was something stupid. The set pin on the copier, that you slide the left DF hinge on to was not fully screwed in. Causing DF to be up a little. Most likely why pressing down on DF did not help.
