[Misc] AR-651 shadow on half page?

I've been working on a AR-651. copies great from platen. But as soon as I use the ADF on dbl sided or single sided copies. I get a shadow on the front half of copy, from lead edge to trailing edge.? Any ideas. I've cleaned adf slit glass, mirrors. I even cleaned the insides of machine, just to eliminate that possibility.

I've had some dirt get trapped between the white reference plate and the glass causing this symptom.

I found the problem.. ADU was out of place by 1/16th inch towards back of machine. I noticed the 1/16th in adjust markings on the hinges of the ADU. Adjusted the ADU 1/16th inch towards the front of machine.... All done! Lesson learned.
