    Color Matching on an MX-4101N

Can anyone link me to some information on how to do color matching? I spoke with a tech from Sharp a very long time ago who gave me some internet resources but I do not have those anymore. Essentially a customer wants the Sharp to print colors as close to the colors on his monitor as possible.

You should be looking into a Fiery print server addon if you want pantone colours and very strong colour representation.

However, firstly you should check his monitor to make sure it's properly calibrated. You wouldn't believe how many times those types of calls winds up being a poorly calibrated monitor.

If they are printing via PCL6 or 5 you will never get it that close. If they has a postscript option you have some matching options in the advanced color options in the print driver settings. With the monitor it could have a completely different color gamut to the copier so they will never look the same. If they have the money get them to get a fiery with spot color loaded.

      hope it helps

color munki, monitor and printer calibration tool, info is on sharp idnc site certified by Sharp to work on the mx4101n. you can try to calibrate the monitor using windows calibration , but this is all visual settings, which is still the users perception. Also depends on the age of the monitor, the ambient light in the room, the paper that's in the printer. many variables. devices like color munki or the other x-rite calibration tools work better.

Oh the ole "my monitor doesn't match my prints" scenario....gotta love it. I believe this model supports Pantone as well as the other excellent suggestions.

Best thing to do if the client is still not happy and does not want to send any extra money would be to copy the file and try on a different copier but the same model. At least you can tell if the colours on the machine are out or if it's his monitor badly calibrated. Even the lights in the room can make the colours look strange so take the print outside or to a window and see if the client likes the colours more. Is the client printing his job on decent paper as that can also make a huge difference to how the prints appear?
