    Sharp MX 2600 Total Count

Hi, I have been asked to service a mx2600 on a time and materials basis and looking at the machine it appears to have done a lot more copies than the total count says it has. I am not overly familiar with Sharp machines and wanted to ask whether the main total count can be reset, as I believe this has been done? I wanted to check if it is possible to do this before I mention this to my customer who bought the machine from Ebay.

On this machine, yes it can be reset with the 'backdoor' simulations; on the new machines without a physical keyboard, the answer is no (that we know of, anyway).

Print a 22-6 which will show you Total Count, Total Output, and other counts for both B/W and Color - sorry, I won't be giving out the 'hidden test commands' on a public forum.

When you check the 22-6 there should be some discrepancies between total count and some of the other non drum/developer/maintenance counts. Most of the time when we run across one of these they only wipe the total count and don't change the paper feed counts and stuff like that. The 22-6 on this model can be confusing if you're not familiar with it. Ignore the rotation number and the day numbers are probably not going to tell you anything. Too make a long post short add all of the paper feed tray numbers (most people don't reset these numbers) and that should get you pretty close to what the total count is.

          Good luck.

Post a copy of the simulation 22-6 printout. I can interpret the counts for you and advise.

can you tell me how to get into backdoor simulation on the new machines that have a keyboard? you can pm me. I do it all the time on the old machines as a last resort to do an all clear or fax reset.

You shouldn't need special codes for fax reset or all clear. Try TC 66.
