    MX5112 - Jam Code PDPPD1_N

    Evening all,

Getting the above jam code from paper pass unit. Service manual isn't telling me much.

Jamming 1st copy every time. If I move paper pass unit to another 5112 fault moves to new machine.

Tried swapping sensors in paper pass unit but it made no difference. Machine has done 400k.

    Any help would be great.

    Many thanks.

First things I would check is the drive motor PDPTM in sim 3-3 and sensor PDPPD1 in sim 3-2

I had on that was intermittent. I ended replacing the sensors in the RB3, there is only 2 and they are rather easy to do.

        Re: MX5112 - Jam Code PDPPD1_N

Thanks for the advice chaps. I did check sim 3 but couldn't find any sensors/motors beginning PD?

I'm sure I had the p/pass unit pushed in at the time, or maybe I didn't....

Anyway I changed both sensors and that made no difference, guess it must be the drive motor.

        I'll get one ordered.

        Ta.

The gate in the paper pass unit is not moving.

This gate moves to redirect the paper according to single side copying or duplex copying.

I have had this happen to two 5110N machines and both times the lever that attaches to the solenoid and the gate was broken.

This gate is located on the top right side of the paper pass unit.

Thanks for this, I know that gate is very flimsy.

But when I switched units (leaving gate on machine) the fault moved with the unit.

Surely if something had snapped from the gate this wouldn't be the case?

            Many thanks.

There is a gate at the entrance and solenoid in the paper pass unit, check section 30 and 31 of fn18/rb11 parts guide

yep I have seen these break before also. Sometimes they break in the rear by the solonoid.

                  Thanks for all your help.

I don't really want to go back there without the parts. Can you tell me what the most likely culprits are? Customer is 4 hour round trip.

                  Ta.

Anyone? I'm off for two weeks from tomorrow and need to get the correct parts ordered up for my colleague.

                    Really appreciate the help

                          ouch! Did ya friggin fixit?

I have a MX5111n with similar issues, APPD1_N jams, had broken solenoid lever, today found the rbx unit and the beige guide on top of the machine. Put it all together and it runs fine but they call for jams every few days. Multiple techs over the years and I'm the latest sucker on the job.

Crappy design in my opinion but besides that it seems the guide may be slow either actuating or returning. Never see it jam of course. Ran hundreds with the rb cover off to watch and it seems fine but the 22-6 will show jams.

Thinking solenoid and guides to start.

I have seen the duplex motor spin in wrong direction, very intermittently.

There are some pads on the gate that are to make it quieter when hitting the frame.

They get worn and will cause the gate to stick.

Remove them and clean the area to remove glue.
