I'm working on a mxm700, that's started to freeze up for no reason. I changed the pcu pwb, the problem went away for about a week, but came back, so I changed out the control board it froze up in 15 mins, changed out mother board, scn pwb. scn jnt pwb. noticed a cable was looking bad so I changed it out also. nothing.. so I changed out the HDD. no joy. I then changed out the low voltage board. right after that I tried to 49-1 firmware update. It says to not power off during procedure but It froze up in the middle of trying to re flash... now its stuck in a window I never saw before in the lcd screen. I have tried everything I know how to get past this screen. including power off, all other buttons..What am I missing

Re: mxm700 frreezing up.
Try updating the software using the USB via laptop method. Flip the two microswitches in the back and see if the LCD screen comes up with the proper message. Then try your update from there. Might try taking another set of ROMs and memory with you if you happen to have a parts machine lying around.
Good luck.

Traced the problem down to the network connection. Disconnect network, no problems...no freezing up of machine. Plug in the network, freezes inside of 10 mins. my question is has anyone else have this problem. Or seen a network cable cause a machine to freeze?Comment

Re: mxm700 frreezing up.
Ok here is where I'm at with the 700, we have changed out the rom chips(because of freezing problem during firmware up grade). changed out boards: pcu, controller, mother. found out the dedicated 20a circuit was wired w/14 gauge awg Illegal in this state. had customer change out suspect wire for a bigger gauge wire. after all said and done still has the same problem.

I have seen bogus data intended for a different device hit the NIC and cause lock up as well as reboot. Analyze network traffic or just try a known unused IP address for the MFP.Comment

Re: mxm700 frreezing up.
I saw this on a MX-M450N recently. Only it would totally power off and then repower. After about an hour of head scratching I noticed that it never powered off until the data light began blinking.
Cleared the print server and everything was fine. I assumed a corrupt print job.Comment

Re: mxm700 frreezing up.
Had a mxm620n just this week that would power off and then back on. I noticed it did it right when the data light on the control panel lit. Fortunately it was in a small office. Went around and found one PC had a job waiting. Deleted job and all good. Our IT guys say they see it from time to time normally it is something they are printing from the internet.Might be something like this?Comment

[QUOTE=ssbmi;415232]Mahalo to all of you for sharing your information.
It was their network. I disconnected from the network. No more freezing up. Had their It guy check their network, and let him know, he might want to update printer driver. They have not called back yet.Comment

Re: mxm700 frreezing up.
We have an mx7040n freezing up like that (and throwing L8-20 codes) randomly when connected to network. All boards have been replaced, firmware latest as well as drivers.... IT says everything is ok on their network (though I have learned not to trust them IT guys)....Comment
