    MX-5001N Lost Web page password

Somehow the web page password has been changed. And themachine has a security data kit inside (MX-FR11U). So, I can't do a 24-30 or24-31. Read there might be some dip switches I could turn on and force a reset, but I could not locate them. Called sharp and they said there is no way to recoverthe password. They said I couldn't even take the MX-FR11U out and replace themwith factory chips to get it back. I upgraded the firmware, but it did not help.

    Anybody got any suggestions????

All comments are welcome, good, bad, even sarcastic.

Sad thing is, I think the customer changed it and won't admit it. Now they want us to replace the machine.

Contact any previous owners of the machine, they might have a record of it or use the same password on every machine.

Are you able to login to the admin settings at the copier? I haven't had to try this (thankfully) yet, but maybe a NIC reset would put the admin password back to default - it couldn't hurt and settings could easily be returned (this is assuming you can access admin settings at the copier). I have not seen the little switches on the MFP pwb that's located on the right side, only on the left side pwb.

Have you tried a blank password, we found that with some machines that is what the password ended up as.

Failing that there is a topic on here on how to reset the passwords, move one of the dip switches and it works too.

Replace the data security kit flash roms with normal roms. Then you can do 24-30. Then reinstall the DSK roms.

            pswd reset w/security kits

Only way to reset a sharp MFP password that has a data security kit is to run 62-1 hdd format, purpose for the security kit is to protect data written on to the disk. Once formatted, usually pswd will default back to default. You can also run 67-70 to clear out NIC settings, this wipes all configurations including dns and smtp ect... if being used.

Hard drive format did the trick, thanks ren2003. Takes about 30 to 40 minutes

Just did this 2 weeks ago on a MX-M623 with DSK.
                    Worked like a charm!

If you reset the NIC card to factory default, then you could log on the web page using the default password, which is "admin"
