    MX-FNX9 Finnisher problem

Hello, the problem is that after approx 6 copies the machine stops and says remove paper from offset tray. I saw another similar post that was pinched wires but his was intermittent. This one does it every 6 copies or so. I have been going through the manual and I cant tell how the finnisher knows how many sheets are on the tray and how to fix this. If anyone has any help I will appreciate it. Thanks

Lets narrow down just a little. Remove the finisher. Since its only a few screws to remove this one its not that bad. Run copies and see if any problem arises.

If everything works properly then we definitely have a finisher issue. For an issue like this my first thing would be to check simulation 3-10 make sure all values are 50

If nothing works yet try upgrading the machine firmware AND finisher firmware.

If nothing has worked yet test operated of the following sensors working in simulation 3-2 FLLD FMLLD FULD

These are the sensors that detect how much paper is in the exit tray. Make sure there are no staples, dust, etc.. in the sensors. (Ive had bent staples make their way in strange places before)

Try this out and let me know where you get. btw how many copies on the machine/finisher

Check the sensor on the exit tray. It as a plastic leg at the bottom of the actuator that can get pulled above the cover.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

I had this recently and it was the paper empty sensor, FSTPD. The paper is held on this sensor before exiting onto tray. See page 6-7 in MX-FNX9 SM. Also look at 5-17 and 5-32 in the parts guide.

My issue came after 2 or 3 copies and the exit tray always stayed at the bottom and never lifted. It would lift if you tested the motor in simulations, though.

My troubleshooting was testing the sensors. FSLD1 did not go low.

If this ends up being your problem, you can remove the sensors with little work. Take the finisher off and flip it over. If you are good with your fingers and a spring hook or what ever you prefer, you can pop off with little problems.

If you look at the internal view of finisher, they are sensors 5 and 6. In the parts manual, it is section 12 item 10.

For temp fix until you get the parts, you can remove a sensor from the punch unit, if you have one. You will have to unplug the 2 connectors from the finisher for the punch unit, so it will not toss code, but finisher will work correctly.
