    MX-C311 - Cyan bands

First - apologies for no sample.

I have a MX-C311 that gives cyan bands in the main scan direction. No pattern to the banding and it is happening all the way down the page. The banding has good fill on it and looks like it is a grounding issue or charge issue. The bands do not have sharp edge to them, as you would expect a laser to cause. It seems to be solved when you calibrate the machine, however, returns soon enough. When I ran 50-22 Cyan was like 35 NG, Magenta 0 ok and Yellow 38 NG. I have since corrected and have good copies. I just feel that it will return.

We have replaced the LSU, cyan drum and DV with numerous calibrations. It was my first time out there and the parts were replaced before my turn to visit the client, so I may not have all specifics. According to part number, the LSU is the new style per TB. Sharp was of little help and bulletins did not seem to match the problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

For myself, historically this problem has been the secondary transfer unit. Try swapping that out and see how it fares.

My units have had this happen anywhere from 0-55k pages.

It is possible for banding to occur if your scan alignment is out of whack which when you said "When I ran 50-22 Cyan was like 35 NG, Magenta 0 ok and Yellow 38 NG" that is way out of alignment. Since you said you fixed that chances are your probably in the clear.

The only other banding I have ever seen is what looks like barcodes of different colors all over the pages sometimes one or two code lines, caused by bad printer memory SDRAM chips on the print board/ICU board (happened alot on ARBC320 models). I've never needed to remove the back panel from a MXC311 so I am not sure if it has built in memory or actually SDRAM chips. But this is one other thing you could look at if the problem occurs again.

If you've ever installed a fax kit or finisher, then you've seen the mother PWB and the SDRAM chips. Everything was tucked into the left side of the unit as opposed to the back.

If 50-22 numbers change you could be looking at the primary belt. Run 50-22 a few times and v see if they change. I've also seen the lsu cause this. Typically I see it in the primary.
