    MX3116N Please wait

    Hey guys,
I have a very strange issue I would like some other opinions on. I have a customer with an MX3116 that the scanner lamp would not light up. Since we did not have a new lamp on hand we decided to rob the entire scanner unit off a brand new machine at the shop and try to get the customer up and running. After swapping the scanner unit the lamp now lights up.
However, now when you make a copy or scan or fax through the ADF the machine locks up in a please wait status, without feeding any paper, and will sit there indefinitely and you have to reboot the machine to get rid of the job.
When making a copy or scan or fax off the glass the machine will feed paper past the PPD1 sensor almost to the PPD2 sensor and say please wait on the screen. It will sit there for about a minute and then say jam. With jam code PPD2_PRI.
Machine will print from sims and from network connection fine. Will also receive faxes.
These are the parts already replaced/swapped: Scanner unit, SCU PWB, PCU PWB, and MFP PWB.
I called tech support and they said that the only thing left to replace/try is reprogramming the EEPROM's.
Does anyone else have any ideas on this? Had similar issue on this series or any Sharp color machines that might be able to at least give me something other than sending the EEPROM's back to Japan for reprogramming?
Thanks in advance, for this extremely weird issue!!

I've had a please wait issue arise from a faulty Key OP PWB, but any instances of PPD2_PRI jams have been packet loss issues on the network lately.

Have you checked their network equipment for optimal performance?

Check all connections between scanner unit(scanner board) and main body for pinched broken wires. was scanner working on other copier ? . were all eeproms swapped from "old boards to new boards". ppd2_pri error is engine not getting (for a better word the write signal) in x time. The paper is in place and the start writing signal has not come thru. Real quick have to go to emergency service call. the data from scanner goes through mother bd to mfp board, since the scu and mfp bd were replaced go with mother bd , also check copy memory on mfp. also since engine works in print and sim mode go with mother bd, disconnect doc feed from scanner bd and try copy just in case.

Had this issue on a 5141 last month; "please wait" and the lamp coming on and PPD2_PRI. Anytime, I see that code, I check for a flipped drum blade or IT belt blade. Pulled everything, all were fine.
When attempting to do an emergency update, it displayed a PCU version error. OK, no brainer, need a PCU pwb; didn't work.
Turned out to be the HDD was bad.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

I second the flipped blade, drums or TB1.

I vaguely remember on the m450 455 mx450 (ef1 family dspf) having odd scanner issues and needing to reinitialize the DSPF. CIS lamp wouldn't light until reinitalised, they didn't show an option for duplex copy, and the scanner looked wrong on the screen. Whatever sim reinitialized the duplex resolved odd scanner issues on other families (4501 ect.)
