    Sharp MX2640

    Hi Guys,

I have a MX2640 which is jamming every time, doesnt matter where it feeds from, tray , tray 2 or bypass it jams every time. The jam is ppd1-N1.

The paper goes past the ppd1 sensor then stops at the 2 grey rollers / idle rollers just after. The sensor is working fine in simulation and so is the one before.

I have swapped the ps unit ( which contains the ppd1 sensor ) and also tray 1 feed unit ( in case of sensor before cpfd1 ) and also the pcu pwb which i think controls the sensors on to another machine and they all work fine.

All the drums and transfer units are moving freeley and firmware is upto date.

    Any advice is welcome,

    Thanks in advance.

Is your paper physically contacting something in the paper path or just stalling out after it hits PPD1? The N1 means that your paper isn't being detected at the PPD1 sensor slot.

Have you calibrated image position with sim 50-28? Too much white on the lead edge will trigger jam conditions sometimes, especially if the image is very displaced.
Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?

tried that mate but still jams in same place while trying to calibrate.

It doesnt look like its physically hitting anything just seems to stop at the rollers

The code means the paper is not getting to PPD1 at the right time.

See the attached bulletin, the photo sensor has had a part number change.

This change was because the sensor would be slow working or not work at all.

Even though you replaced the unit with the sensor in it, the unit could have a slow reacting sensor.

Since the ps and tray 1 feed unit work in the other machine, try this when the copier jams , don't remove the paper go right into sim mode and see if ppd1 is actuated.(if you can, certain jams will allow into sim to check sensors on certain machines) . also is the paper actually activating the sensor(buckle in the paper). Your customer is not using hole punched paper or an odd size it is standard letter size. Unplug the desk unit, to rule out that messin with the copier. Check the plug on the copier that the ps unit plugs into maybe bad pin or broken/cut wires in the harness.

Hi there new to copytechnet and 1st post,

we are having the same problem with sensors on a 2640 we have replaced paper detect sensors to the new type but still getting intermittent problems will try this board and keep you up to date.

              Thanks

The post above yours reads that it was the driver board on the drive unit in the back of the machine. Perhaps check there?
