MX-2615 copier printing color in custom software Anita.

Client has a MX-2615N and is setup as printer. I have the drivers defaulted to black and white.

Anita is a custom software, which is character based, that handles invoicing, purchase orders for a manufacturing client. It will print the purchase orders in B/W and count as a B/W. The invoicing appears to print in B/W, but counts as color. I am guessing that the invoice could be processed B/W, but they would like them to stop counting as color.

So again, the MX-2615 is defaulted to B/W. I have updated the firmware from ver 5 to 6, at which point, Anita stopped being able to print and everything else was printing fine. I scaled back the firmware to ver, 4 because I did not have 5.

IT has not figured it out and Sharp says to do a print to file, which I can. I would like to know if anyone else experienced this problem and was able to resolve.

What Print Drivers are you using PCL5, PCL6, PPD, XPS????

you may wanna try different drivers to see what outcome your getting. thats where id start first, id also put the machine back to Ver 6 for stability

When you say that it is defaulted to B&W, where did you do that?

I would try doing it through Printer Properties->Advanced tab->Printing Defaults. When you do it this way, it sets the default printing preferences for all users. Currently, the software may be running/printing as a different user and therefore it's default preferences would be Auto.

Make sure that both Printer Properties > Advanced > Printing Defaults and General > Preferences... are both set to B&W.

Or, set up two print queues, one with a different B&W copier driver and another with the standard driver.

A reliable source has informed me what a potential solution may be.
Your docs are being forcefully printed in an RGB profile, the machine will then spit full colour to reproduce the profile. In your PCL6 driver, change the colour mode to custom and activate CMYK simulation. This will rip your RGB profile as CMYK and correctly counts b/w. If you're using the PS driver, uncheck the PS error information within the driver, similarly the RGB file will rip as CMYK and appropriately count b/w.

I tried the suggestions, minus the CMYK profile. They did not work. I installed MX-M503 driver, stayed with counting in color. I did not use the CMYK profile, because I was a bit unsure.

It is corrected though. The logo on the invoice was originally red which they converted to black, I believe that was the issue. Their IT tech, that is in charge of the software, resolved the issue.
