Sharp 5112 with data security kit

    Hello,

We have a problem with a slow keyboard reaction of a 5112 that has a data security kit installed. Sometimes (not every time) when you push for example "email" you have to wait 2- 3 sec before the email menu shows. In general it seems like machines that have a data security kit installed react slower then normal.

Does anyone else have the same problems with a data security kit installed and if so what could i do to improve this?

    Kind regards,

    Ramon

    Another strange behaviour:

I see on the display below "printer" a lock changing to the letter "A" and back again, see attachements.

    Regards,

    Ramon

From what I've observed about DSKs, they seem to operate on an instanced basis. Eg. It takes a snapshot of all current settings before job, performs job, then compares snapshots for unauthorized changes and finally overwrites snapshot. I'm sure that's not how the process actually goes but it's the best analogy I can give. That's why there may be a small delay on simple operations, though I've not seen a DSK on a full touchscreen unit yet so I can't say for sure. The lock may represent a good state, and the A may be for accessing the stored data. I'm only speculating of course...

Is your firmware up to date?

We have installed the latest firmware. I can imagine that there would be a slight delay but not like this.

Yeah, the delay you describe sounds too long compared to other machines I have w/ DSK.

However, I haven't seen one on a full touchscreen model, so I can only speculate.
