    [Misc] Print problems

We have some machines that crashes from different webpages , Mx-5001 gets error code u2-05 and deletes networks settings and other settings on the machine (like scan resolution) .
if we delete the print queue and restarts the machine after clearing the U2 code the machine works well .
Some mx-5112 gets e7-90 from the same webpages . same here delete print queue and reboot machine .
    anyone had similar problems ?

    I think you should check
    - HDD
    - Check connection of the PCU PWB, the MFP PWB, and the mother board.
    - Check the ground.

      thanx for the replay .
I know there is nothing worng with the hdd , this only happens on a few webpages , I noticed if i use add blocker in the browser , it prints just fine .
the annoying thing is some of the older machines (mx-5001) gets u2-05 and settings are lost .

What browser where you using or does it happen with any browser? Have had some interesting problems with certain websites using certain browsers but not a U2 code. Would be interested to know a little more on particulars. I've found that if I use a different browser for the site that is causing problems that will help narrow down what the issue might be.

        Good luck.

some web page ads are programs trying to collect data from your pc (location, cookies from other ads and the like) and the ads coding or operation when sent as a print of the web page is confusing or requesting something the printer can't do. The ad could also be malware. The U2-05 error is a mismatch between hdd and sram of mfp control bd. you usually get this if you swap out the mfp control bdfrom another copier without swapping the chips from old to new. or swapping hdd from one copier to another. The ad is messing with the sram or hdd on/connected to the mfp control bd. make sure firmware is at latest level, do a print memory clear, sim 67-17 I think, I also delete the job log and optimize HDD ( IN system settings for user.) or format hdd in sim mode but that takes a long time.

I usually instruct my customers if printing from the web: look for a print link for the article . If they are viewing a pdf , download it to the pc and print from the pc instead of trying to print from the website. Also if you have postscript on these copiers use that for printing PDFs.

With a U2-05, it is the execution of Simulation 16 that is wiping your settings. I learned this the hard way a few years back on a Hercules machine. Code cleared but so did everything else; lesson learned. Backup the data BEFORE running SIM 16.

If you use SIM 67-17 (as suggested above) this SIM also wipes settings (print ports, domain name, bidirectional printing, etc...).
I always clone the machine via webpage before 67-17.

Web printing is a real stinker. Anytime a customer can download then print, you will have fewer issues.

It mostly happens with Ie , but i have seen it crash with firefox and chrome too .

I guess we just need to try get our costumers to use the print button on the bottom of the pages .

I know there is nothing wrong with the hdd's its only a few certain webpages with LOTS of commercial adds on .
older machinces gets error code , new machines just freeze up and the jobs are just stuck in spool queue on the mfp .
so if anyone else gets the problem remove job from print queue and reset error codes and it should be fine til next time they print the weekends recipe

              Thanx for all the suggestions
