MX-3501 copy quality/jamming issue

I have a machine that is depositing what seems like black toner on the guides above the fuser unit, both the left and right ones. It seems that it is only an inch or two wide right in the center. It is causing paper to jam there frequently. Recently tried to fix it with a new black drum unit and developer unit to no avail. There is a fairly new primary transfer in the machine. Copy quality is O.K. It seems like there is so much toner on the guides that I should be able to see where it's comming from but it's not obvious. Not showing up on the fuser rollers either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

To be clear, it's on the guides after the print/copy exits the fuser?

I would try changing paper setting from 20lb to 28lb.

One of our other guys went back and checked the machine settings in the Tech Tip but he says that every thing was set as in the Tip. I was sure that the part about the fuser table setting would do the trick. So I'm back to square one again on this. I'll be back in there again tomorrow.

Well, we have this in the shop now. Works fine after cleaning the toner off off of the front and rear of the exit guides above the fuser unit. After a while the deposited toner on the guides start causing frequent jams. Now we have to find a way to test in shop. Our dispatch/parts person is whining about having a copier that doesnt work. Doesn't want to be part of the process. If history repeats itself he'll be throwing crap around the office or even physically breaking the copier. Not much I can do about that. We just need to run a bunch of copies without wasting paper.

Is the toner fusing properly on the paper (does it rub off?)

If it is fusing properly then try lowering the temps for the fuser for plain paper.

If the temps are high then the toner that had been fused on the front side of the copy will get sticky again when run back thru the fuser for the second side.

I have done this on an MX-6201N with some success.
