    [Error Code] MX-B402 L4-06

    Got a strange one
Sharp mx-b402 originally with a L4-06 code.First step ..removed springs on transfer belt cleaning blade. Machine operated fine but with smearing prints. Next..installed brand
new transfer belt assembly.Immediately got a L4-06 code but noticed if I turned machine off then on there was no code and machine operates properly...unless if you open and
close any door you will get L4-06. ????

Do you work on these much? This was a very common problem with these machines. The most common fix is a warped/faulty Resist Sensor unit and the sensor that detects the position of the Primary Transfer Belt. There are several bulletins Sharp has released on these problems as well as posts in these forums. I began to stock most of those parts, (the sensor and resist sensor unit.)

There are a couple of bulletins, but the resist sensor unit is based on the L4-12 and F2-45 bulleitin. But it may be worth looking into. I have had to replace several resist sensor units.

Search the bulletins, 1 talks about cleaning or replacing the 1TUD_K sensor and another talking about replacing a clutch in the main drive unit.

Cheat the front door and run a copy.

If the half moon disk on the transfer belt unit does not turn properly the clutch is the problem.

If the disk turns properly then the 1TUD_K sensor is the problem.

Yep, I've had several of these where the 1tud_k and 1tud_cl cause the issue. My experience has been they just get toner/dv build up and need cleaned. One sensor is on the back wall right in the middle and the other is tucked up in the right hand corner just under the fuser and a little more difficult too see

This solved my problem. New TX belt unit, same code. Cleaned sensors. No code even after repeat door open/close. Thanks a bunch!
