MX-2300N Red Stripe on Scanned Documents

Suddenly my machine has started to act funny when I scan documents. It hasn't done the before, only started about a week ago. I have the machine on a ESPS filter with RJ-45 filtering.
Anyways, here is an attached document to explain what I mean. Has anyone come across this before?

Yes, I guess I should have pointed out the page, figured it was obvious though. This is the 2nd time it has happened to me and it doesn't happen to all pages as you have seen. Yesterday it was very bad, almost all of the pages were like that.

If you look in the shade of the spine of several pages, you'll notice other smaller lines as well as tinges of cyan. I'd say your CCD may be on the fritz, or your shading is off. Try to force shading and see if that corrects it, and if not I would look into the CCD.

I wonder if maybe the ribbon cable came loose during transport. I will give your method a shot since it doesn't involve tearing the machine apart.
          Thanks
