probably needs developer, AR168d does not come with developer as these are normally setup by tech. did copier come with a bag of AR152nd developer? , also if you put doc in feeder on top it goes in face up.

No it didn't come with developer. I have the user manual for it. I don't see anything about developer? Where would that go?

The is has lid on top. Doc goes face down. Anyway, I have treid it both ways as that's what the user manual says for blan copies.

Sharp Copier Developer Installation for Sharp AR-208, AR-M257, MX-M200D, MX-M260 copiers

Great. I found this online. It appears you are right about the developer. It specifically says in there that you must add developer before toner. I inserted the toner cartridge and turned on the machine and tried copies. DId i screw it up now?

Depends on how long you ran it - before you add the developer, empty the toner from the DV unit.

I tried maybe 8 copies total.

What is the DV unit? Sorry for the amateur question.

That is where the developer is added - it might have toner in it now because you powered on with toner cartridge installed.
Follow the instructions from your post above.

Thank you very much for your help. I ordered some developer for delivery tomorrow and I will follow those instructions and hopefully that is it.

                Very much appreciate the guidance.
