MX-4141N networking issues

I am setting up scan to network folders and was able to scan just fine to one scan folder, except for one issue where it does not dump the file into the desired folder. The folder I would like to scan to is "scans", but it dumps the file into the folder that the folders "scans" is in. That is not a major issue, but an issue.

The second problem is a separate destination, on the same server. The username and password should have access rights but gives me a timeout error. If I use an established username and password, it works fine. The username and password, that fails, is the same one as the first network destination.

Last question. Am I able to setup a scan destination that requires you to enter a username and password. It looks like I can only assign that scan destination as to use under certain people.

Place the share folder at the root of the drive or near enough. The UNC path could be to long for it too direct to.
I did this on a customers server with a 9201 and it worked AOK.

Question #1: I would check your address under that profile. Seems like you just have it directed to that folder since it is working correctly. You would get an error code (CE code) if you did not.

Question #2: I would check from another computer to see if you are able to access that folder on the server. Quick and easy check. If you can't then check your folder share settings. If you can then check your profile address.

Question #3: The profile has to have a user name and passwork. You can not set it up without one. That being said you can set this unit up as a network folder and people can scan to the copier hard drive and then access it from their computer. Saves a lot of pain and effort when you are having network folder issues. That way if they want they can make the file confidential with a password or just scan and grab later.

Totally agree with #3. The new Sharps come standard with 16GB of NAS (network accessible storage) as this method is less prone to issues.

With every new install, I always insist on new credentials for the new copier. Its own email/username and password to be used ONLY by the MFP.

I believe G.Jacks is correct about problem number 1 with path being to long.

The IT techs was able to get it to scan to the other folder. Believe it to be a permission issue.

Thanks for the NAS idea. I will research and be ready for the next install, with that solution.

If only everyone thought like you and I, friend.

The name of the folder and the share name can be something different.
If you browse to \\computername\ it will show you all of the shared folders and their SHARE names, not the actual name of the folder.
