    Sharp AR-275 CRUM chip error

    Hey Everybody,
This is my first post here. I have tried another board with not very satisfactory results.

We are refilling toner cartridges for the AR-275. It saves us about $40.00 per cartridge but we have run into U2-40 issues. Sometimes it's right away at install and sometimes it's not until there is less than 25% toner left.

We have used both Katun and Summit refill kits. One has been much better than the other but still have trouble with both.

Anything you can give me on this? I did some destructive testing on the chip itself and I don't see anything in there that I could replace. How are these reset? Is it like a flash ROM or something similar?

    Thanks for any help.

I guest the program of the replacement chip may be a bit different with the genuine one so U2-40 will show up intermittently.

I suggest you to buy a genuine toner cartridge and refill that cartridge when the toner level near 25% left. It works....

If this method works to your machine, let me know!!

I can see how that would work however, we have 37 of these machines in the field under contracts that include toner. As you know the Sharp's will not give notice when the toner is low. If the customer is not watching the machine will disable when the toner is empty. The other difficulty is on a CPC contract we want to get as many copies from each cartridge as possible.

This product on the surface looks good. They want $300.00 for it and it's coming from Turkey. Does anyone have any experience with this company or this product? Thanks

The IC chip on the toner cartridge will blink and that will be time to replaced with a new cartridge. If you are doing refills from a bottle, then I suggest to refill it before the toner are totally consumed or before it will be blinking. You can still refill if the toner indicator light is steady. If its blinking, then that's it, you have to replace with a new IC chip with an original Sharp brand, if available from your area. Most OEM will work but sometimes it will give you U2-40 problem.

I'd never used a chip resetter. I usaually notice their monthly usage and refill the cartridges on time.

You may use other methods that you feel convenience.
