MX-M453N with MX-FNX9 & data security has no exit tray lift when copying

The machine seems to work normally but the exit tray does not lift to accept the documents. Copying will stop after a few pages or sets until the paper is lifted off of the tray then copying continues. I know the tray lift motor works because I can make it go up and down in simulation. I have upgraded the firmware and made a cursory inspection of the finisher. Something else that may or may not be part of this is that the pull out keyboard does not work. All three of the LED's at the top flash. Ideas anyone?

I had a problem exactly like that, it would copy 3 pages and say tray is full. My FSLD1 sensor was bad. I would test that sensor and the FSLD2 sensor.

As far as the keyboard, I am not sure, but I would try a new keyboard.

replace the USB conv board . it's under the keyboard. check the finisher sensors, but i wouldn't be surprised if the USB conversion board would fix the problem. have replaced a few USB conv boards that caused the copier to have strange problems.

Thanks so much for the tip Mheon. I looked at the sensors sim 3-2 and it showed one of the sensors bad. Got a couple of new sensors and that did the trick. Since this machine is time and materials I won't be fixing the pull out tray now. You guys rock!
