Fold A4 Lengthways on 2640

Hello,
We have a Sharp MX-2640N, with saddle stitch finisher. It folds A4 and A3 into booklets very nicely. However, I want to be able to fold the A4 in half to create a narrow, tall booklet. I have tried turning the A4 paper around and the machine says it won't fold in this orientation. Is there some way of tricking it to do this? Any help much appreciated!

Unfortunately there is no current way to fold it the way that you want. The only way you could do this is to format your output for Ledger size paper then get the paper cutter out to trim it to the size you want.

Thanks Bill for the speedy reply. This is for a weekly noticesheet run of about 400 sheets, so cutting isn't really an option! Is there no way to 'hack' the machine to allow this? It looks like you should be possible, because it can fold paper that wide when it's doing A3/Ledger. Is there something about the folding device that prevents it folding Letter/A4 in half lengthways?

The end guides in the finisher will not move to the proper position to allow folding in this manner.

finisher spec min length of paper 5.5 inches, folding letter/a4 lengthways would make 4.25 inch (feed length) to short to make feed rollers/transport rollers and mechanism for saddle stitch and folding of paper. There maybe external folding solutions.

Look at the Plockmatic line for sharp. It may be able to handle it.
