MX-2300N Machine Dead and Main Board LED Blinking

    Alrighty, 2nd attempt.
Yesterday I made some scans and E7-01 came up. I turned off the machine and cleaned out the dust using my compressed air can. I went to power the machine back up and it wouldn't. If I waited long enough the fans would finally come on, but the screen was blank and nothing happened. On the back of the machine with the panel off the main mfp control board had these three green led lights that steadily blink. I am trying to figure out if the main board itself is shot or if the boot rom might be the issue?

If anyone has any spare parts laying around as well and can sell them please tell me also.

    Thanks

Were you wearing a static strap? Spraying away toner/dust deposits would cause static to build up. Was your machine plugged in or not.
I was unaware that i was standing on a rubber mat in front of a machine that had a serious toner spill, using my 3M service vacuum i did a good job of getting the machine clean. I could feel that my hair was starting to rise on my arms and head but did not think to much about that, the problem came in when I stepped of the matt. The electric jolt I received was enough to take my legs go out underneath me!

To recreate this you need one mat one poorly earthed service vac (on mat with you) and a bottle of TN311 toner, finally to complete this you need an out of the box trainee. i think a bottle of panasonic toner would even be beter.
    Whatever

This is not an answer to my question. It does not matter anyways, as I have gotten the machine to work. I went back checked some switches I may have hit and everything is fine, but I figured I would play around with the memory since I have heard these machines can be a pain with memory. So I took the memory out and switched the cards around and now the machine works but gives out E7-08. So I am thinking that maybe the memory cards in this machine have had it over these years.

        copier mem.jpg

Here is a screen shot, hopefully readable. The machine gives me E7-08 now, better than being a dead machine. I ran a memory test on the machine and one of the slots reads NG. One reads none, but does have memory in it (guessing the base memory).

So I think the memory is kaput?

Alrighty all. I believe that the copier memory except for the 256MB card, is fried. So I went ahead and ordered all new memory to replace in the entire machine, and by doing this I can avoid the potential mistake of frying new cards due to possible old cards.

          UPDATE:
I tested the local memory cards in a laptop and one card failed. Laptop gave me memory error beeps. The 512MB card from the local is kaput. The 512MB for the printer is good and the 256MB for the local is good. However to be safe than sorry I purchased all new memory to just replace everything.

This faulty memory may even explain why a while back I would run some scans and every so often one would have a red tint to the copy. Probably the memory was returning faulty data. We shall see.

Alrighty, bought new memory and the codes went away. I made a scan later tonight and E7-01 came back up. Guess the main board has put up its white flag. I do not know if I will bother replacing the board or just giving this machine a good heav ho.

Last resort. remove the board and spray it down with Mr Mekenic. Worked like once before on a PC.

I think this board is finished. The machine works, but every so often if I scan or copy a document it error codes and if the prints were to come out they would be all red. Thankfully I got this machine for free.

There is a reason you got it for free. The 2300's are a slow piece of crap.

I do not think that is why I got it for free, but I do agree they are crap. The machine wasn't giving me these codes when I got it, but until now. It is no big deal because it still prints and until I can grab another machine or come up with enough reason to actually pay for one of these machines this will have to do.

Re: MX-2300N Machine Dead and Main Board LED Blinking (UPDATE)

Well yesterday I decided to part out my machines, so I took the main board out of the mx-2300n and put it back in. Plugged in the machine and turned it on, what do you know it works! No error codes, no nothing wrong. Strange, probably just a loose solder joint or something. The only thing is that the machine does not seem to show the additional memory. Just the 768MB machine and 648MB printer (if my memory serves me correctly). Well I will probably just let this thing roll on until it dies for good lol.

I also fixed that AR-507. I had a AR-405 I bought ages ago and well I didn't want to use it for parts because I paid for it, but hey it got the AR-507 working which had new developer and toner installed before I got it for free. So hey I have two working machines and a parts 405, not that bad a deal.

Recognizes the memory and I did the memory tests and everything passed with flying colours. I made a color photocopy and no issues the copy came out normal. go figure.
