MX 4100N still displays "Automatically Adjusting"

This machine does this for 12-20 seconds from even a 30 second standby period...if you continue to make copies subsequently without stopping it does not do it. Driving my customer and by extension, me, nuts.
I have flashed the firmware, made suggested adjutments for procon timing... no change... any ideas?

have you checked all heater lamps
