[Misc] User code page counts jumping without copying!!! HELP! MX-M623N

For some time now - a couple of months I've had an MX-M623N that when a user goes to use the machine will make up to 69 copies or so and then when logging back in again - their accumulated total for their account has jumped - sometimes 100 pages! Not sure how this could be happening...also the users saying that in the middle of a 100 page job, the copier made about 40 copies, printed 40 blanks, and then continued with the job???

The counts seem very strange as the typical use for this customer is about 3k per day, but even during the Christmas holiday when the school was out and only a couple of people were working they had 9k prints in 5 days.

Any thoughts as to what might cause this???

Re: User code page counts jumping without copying!!! HELP! MX-M623N

We had an MXM350U that had an issue with counts always reverting back to a certain number regardless of how many copies had been made. It would count up for awhile then all of a sudden revert back to an older reading. It always went back to the same reading. We ended up changing the PCU but it was the EEPROM itself that was causing that problem. All counts, serial numbers, etc were reset to 0 but it worked fine after that. It was a huge pain in the butt though because it was a "U" model that had a printer expansion kit and NS kit installed. Our tech had replaced the flash roms of the machine also with "N" version roms. He tossed the printer expansion kit roms which are needed to make the machine network ready. We had to reorder the entire printer expansion kit. If you have to go as far as changing the PCU and EEPROM use this as as reminder to not get rid of the old parts until all is said and done.
    Good Luck

Duplexed letter will count as 2 clicks. Duplexed ledger will count as 4 clicks, etc.... This would also explain the blank sheets as it would be the blank second side.
Make sure that they are using 1 to 1. Also, pull the job log. This will tell you EVERYTHING including who sent what and when.

Good idea to check the job log. I never thought about using it for that reason. Do you know if it shows the current meter somewhere in the job log?

The Job Log does not show the meter count. It will show how many pages the job has. It will also show if it was set to duplex.

If you do some testing, you should be able to see when the total count jumps incorrectly and then check the Job Log to see how many pages that job was recorded as producing.

Symptom: Job Not Being Recorded in the Job Log

Cause: A half-width single quote (apostrophe - ' ) is read as a piece of the internal command code, and as a result, the internal command will not properly execute.

Solution: Do not use half-width single quote (apostrophe - ' ) when setting any of the Imager's web page values.

Details: When setting an value item i.e. "Name", "Machine Location", etc. from the machine web page, if a half-width single quote (apostrophe - ' ) is used, the job log will not be properly recorded.
