Sharp MX264 - where to start

    Symptoms.....
    • machine powers up and goes ready
    • press start button, machine indicates that it is scanning original, but hangs here. no copy made no scanner movement, must cycle power at this point
    • 22-6 prints
    • while printing Total Count sheet machine locks
    • can access web interface
    • sending print job, locks machine
    • image send, locks machine

    Memory test completes successfully
    Firmware done

I'm sure the fact that 22-6 prints successfully and Total Count sheet does not is telling me something, I'm just not sure what????

    Thoughts and suggestions appreciated

We have had a rash of bad SD cards. Just a thought.

Is there anything special about these SD cards? special format? special program?

Are you locked into buying from Sharp or can you buy one with similar specs?

        Just found this in manual.....
CAUTION: When replacing the SD card, be sure to use only the
specified SD card supplied as a service part.
The firmware required for booting must be included
in the SD card used in this machine. The commer-
cially available SD cards have no such data.

        Any way around this????

I would check the mfp pwb, you can print 22-6 which is from pcu board, Try 64-5(pcl print comes from mfp pwb) then try 64-2(from pcu pwb) according to sharp tech support. All the other items you tried scanning (copy, image send) and printing goes to mfp pwb first. also is this m264 with or without hdd. there are 2 different types of firmware and sd card size. Also if you can get into service webpage , check syslog and job log for errors, since copier is not showing any errors.
