Yea unfortunately these ARM257's use ancient serial cables to perform firmware upgrades.
I have an addon serial card for my computer, however I can not for the life of me remember how to properly configure the serial settings or anything to get the firmware program to work. I keep trying to swap my device settings from COM1-4 but no matter what COM port I change my device manager settings to for my serial port the sharp program never sees my machine hooked up via serial cable.
Its been about 10 years since I last did a firmware upgrade on one of these machines I just can't remember how.
Yes I do have the manuals and update procedure however they do not tell you anything about setting up the program on the computer side. Hopefully some ARM237/ARM257/MXM260 techs out there can give me a hand on this issue. Sharp tech support said they didnt have a clue how to configure the ports.
