MX m550 misfeeds exiting drum area/crinkles paper

Got a MX m550 on trade a few months ago and fired it up first time today. Paper crinkles severely as leaving drum area every time. All the rollers are clean, springs for gates all in place, everything from there to fuser turns normally manually. So there are no busted gears anywhere.

Any advise on what I should be looking at appreciated. Paper does not even make it to the fuser section.

Second, when it first came in I did power ip up and it went to ready normally. Now, get a F2-37. At 44-4 value was set to 32 I bumped it up to 35 performed 44-2 and it went to ready.

Then when jam came I removed toner, dv unit, for closer look inside did not see anything out of ordinary so I buttoned it back up. Where is the toner ID sensor on this machine? Guess I should remove drum and clean it? Still get F2-37

    Thanks in advance

Drum needs to be replaced in order to stop F2-37. The drum mark( which is a small square on the drum surface that a sensor reads)is failing, probably worn out.

Might also cure paper wrinkle. But if I had to bet, the fuser needs to replaced and the developer is due.

Crinkling of the paper before it gets to the fuser can also be caused by the transfer belt not turning properly or being damaged. The above list is a good place to start. You can print out a sim 22-6 list to see where you are at in the PM cycle to be sure.

      Good luck.

I second that! You cannot see any issues with them, but they will catch the edge of the paper and cause it to fold over and roll up before the fuser. The paper won't just stop in the pawls. I just had this the other day after another tech couldn't cure the issue. He swapped out the entire drum unit not realizing he was putting one in that had bad sep pawls in it and still causing a problems.

The fuser drive one-way has also cause intermittent folding of paper like this. The fuser doesn't turn so the paper just folds up.
