    MX-C402SC Security Issue

We got a few MXC402SC off lease returns. The machines have card readers, and DSKs installed. Apparently, there was an accounting server set up for network access - keeps failing, and gives a message to retry.
Cannot access the service mode and the admin password has been changed; this machine does not have the two 'magic' dip switches to access TC 30 or 65.
Have we bought 4 'parts' machines?
Replacing the DSK PROMS with non-DSK is my alternative for now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So as to not compromise a critical feature of the DSK with details - the machines have been fixed.

Sorry, as noted above, I will not share those details - contact your Sharp rep, he might help you.

Firmware. It's always firmware... and maybe an hdd wipe and some soft switches

reformatting the hard drive as always worked for me.

I have to assume it involves two things, one of which is forbidden at CTN. The other is elevated sims, which unscrupulous ass hats have ruined for the rest of us.

                  Re: MX-C402SC Security Issue

                  hello every one.
                  here is what i did.
I remove the program rom 1 and program rom 2 that contain the DSK MX-FR28U.
AND install a c402sc mfp-prg 1 and mfp-pgr 2 from a running copier of the same model without the DSK.
turn on the machine and an error came A0-15. but i was able to go into simulation mode #,*,C,#. (that i was not able to go before) once in there perform sim 24-30 for password initialization. exit simulation and turn off copier.
then i put back the program rom 1 and program rom 2 that contain the DSK MX-FR28U.
turn on the machine. i got the please wait mmessage. then the original message about not able to connect to external server, with the option to retry or to log in as an administrator, selected the log in as an administrator, and input the password admin. (NOW I WAS ABLE TO LOG IN AND TURN OFF (DISABLE) THE EXTERNAL COUNTING OPTION.(this was not possible because the admin password was changed and could not go into simulation) NOTE:THE ENABLE/DISABLE OPTION WAS THE FIRST THING THAT THE MACHINE DISPLAYED ONCE LOG IN AS AN ADMIN)IF YOU WISH YOU CAN FORMAT THE HD AT T

FINALLY turn on the copier and it is working with the DSK MX-FR28U and full functionality and nothing happened to the integrity of the DSK.
the othercopier that i borrow the proms is working without a problem.
i hope this can help someone out there. Blessings.
