    MX4501 color problems.

I replaced the PCU board to get rid of a L4-31 code. It got rid of the code, but now the copies and prints are weird. Black and white is fine. The colors aren't right. Grayscale on copies and prints come out in in color.
Internal test charts come out alright.

Have you updated the firmware? Have you thought about calibrating?

I work on color Sharp's that often. I tried some of the color adjustments and they seemed to work. One of them failed. I'm not sure which one. I don't have access to Sharp firmware.
I'm going to go back out there tomorrow. I'll give more info then.
      Thanks

Agree with the other responses. Get the current firmware and then go through the calibration procedure from step one. Usually replacing the exit cooling fans above the fuser in the reverse assembly takes care of the L4-31 error, so I am curious what took out the PWB?

MFP-SB-154 (service bullten) Additional troubleshooting information for L4-31 error

here is a bit of that bullten,
L4-31 trouble is displayed when a lock signal from the paper exit cooling fan or the toner hopper fan is detected by the PCU PWB. Therefore, it indicates that the fan is not rotating because a connector is disconnected, motor is locked or fan is obstructed.

If exit fans and toner fan are ok, failure of PCU PWB is suspected. Please replace the PCU PWB and confirm if the L4-31 error is resolved.

***Take care to ensure the EEPROM is transferred to the replacement PCU PWB or conflicts will occur.***
