    eStudio 356 scan to email

All we are getting when scanning to email is "Failed to connect to SMTP Server"
We can ping a web page IP address so the machine can get out.
Settings all look right but we are use to Ricoh and there are a lot of terms in the set up for the toshiba that ricoh does not use.

A couple things to check: Make sure your DNS info is correct, otherwise that will generate the SMTP error. And on the Toshiba's you need to enter the info in the SMTP Client section, not the SMTP Server area. Also, don't forget to hit save at the top of the page after you've entered everything in the pop-up box. That one has caught me a time or two.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

All that you mentioned is correct. 2 things I can think of are The SMTP server info is set up but SMTP Server is disabled (Maybe that is creating a conflict) The login is not correct. (We have it as the full email address and password.) Which is how its set up in ricoh, Toshiba. There is also the possibility that the firmware needs to be upgraded. Ok 2 plus 1.

Another thought is to try a different login protocol. The drop down list has several options, most of which I've never used. I think I've had most success with AUTO and Login. But maybe your setup requires a different one?

Double check that you have entered the Gateway correctly under the Network tab, TCP/IP.
