    [Misc] EBN firmware types

Found that there are 3 types of EBN series firmware, which is full mode firmware, differential mode firmware, and admin mode firmware.

As what I know, admin mode firmware is updated via MFP control panel or TopAccess.

The full firmware size is larger than differential. I wonder what is the difference?

    Re: EBN firmware types

I've noticed the same thing. I'll be on course for the new line in two weeks so hopefully will get some answers.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?

      Re: EBN firmware types

      Hey guys.

You have 3 types of firmware for the new eBN devices.

Standard update - Updating the file of a base version.

Differential items update - Updating the version by means of the package of only the files which have been changed from the base. This method is applied to the system firmware and the system software. Since only the files which have been changed are packaged, the data size is smaller than that for the standard package. This method cannot be used for the equipment whose HDD has been formatted.

Patch update - Updating can be done in a shorter time than the standard one. This method is applied to the system firmware and the system software only.

      So a TLDR :

Standard is what you use for when you need to reinstall firmware for options ie finisher, radf so forth and if the hard drive shits itself and you need to do a full reinstall. This is the only way you can update the options.
Patch updating is only updating the system firmware / software. It is generally much smaller in size, takes a few seconds to complete and is used to apply hotfixes to the base firmware. There has already been quite an important patch update affecting fax's for the eBN machines.
Differential update is used when you only need to update the system firmware/software to the latest without having to format and so on. ie updating from 1027 to 1030 is a differential update.

Hope this helps guys, and look forward to working on the new machines.
