Hello,
First of all, thank you to all the incredibly helpful users on this forum. I have been reading as many posts as I can over the last few days and the amount of users who I have seen go out of their way to help people solve their problems is so good to see.
Here is my situation: I have an eStudio 2050c with what I at first believed to have a dead HDD. I received the "CALL FOR SERVICE" message along with the error code F106_5 (ADI-HDD error: Authentication data transmission error). I swapped the drive out for a spare standard laptop SATA HDD I had laying around, assuming (incorrectly) that this would be compatible. It wasn't (standard sata, not ADI/Wipe Drive Technology).
Upon further investigation and through reading the very helpful posts on this forum, it seemed I may still be able to use the original HDD by formatting it and reloading the firmware. So I reinstalled the original HDD and attempted to enter the 08+Power On service menu. I hear the "beep" but after the rainbow loading screen I still see the "CALL FOR SERVICE" message along with the error code detailed above.
After some more investigation and help from users in this forum, I was able to get to the 'Firmware Assist Mode' menu where I can 'Format Root Partition', 'Format HDD', 'Key Backup Restore', 'Erase HDD Securely', 'Format HDD without new key generation' and several other options.
I am now ready to format the HDD and reload the firmware however I am unsure where to go from here - do I just select the option 'Format HDD' and follow the steps on screen and then power on the machine with a USB Memory Stick plugged in containing the firmware? Is there something else I should do first regarding the 'recovery key' or 'format root partition' or 'Format HDD without new key generation' or any other options?
I am also in need of the correct firmware to load onto USB before installing it on the machine but I am unable to find the correct version - if someone could help me out I would be so grateful.
Thank you in advance for anyone who takes the time to reply to this post or messages me with any help. I am just trying to get the machine up and running and would be so grateful for any help!
