    Toshiba 2540c resource shortage msg

    Hello,
A customer called me and their machine is displaying a message on the screen that says resource shortage, and is unable to print or scan, but copy is working. I've never seen that message before, and haven't yet been onsite. Is that message referring to low toner? Low paper? Low memory?

I think he said the magenta was at 1%, but you would think it would just say magenta toner low, and why can't he print/network scan?, is the message related or just a coincidence.

Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks,

Best thing is to go there and check the error logs for scanning/printing in TopAccess. By looking in the manual searching for "resource" it may be a problem with shared folder used for scanning or the HDD needs format and ne FW to be loaded.

You might be surprised what the actual message is. It never ceases to amaze me how customers will screw up simple error messages. My personal favourite was a customer who said the copier was displaying "Photo Bell Unit Light". I got them to check and confirm that was the message and they assured me it was. When I arrived the actual message was: "Belt Unit Life. Please Contact Service."
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?
