    Toshiba 3511 - won't boot

Thank you in advance for your patience. I have inherited a Toshiba 3511 with all the bells and whistles, but am not very familiar with the model.

It won't start up. It get stops at the initial startup screen.

I have tried starting in test mode and a few other modes after reading through the threads, but it never gets past this initial startup screen.

I would like to reload the OS and go from there, but I am uncertain where to start.

    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

<<based on the volume of activity in this discussion group on the 3511, i believe I may have been given a short-term hobby (or perhaps challenge) in getting it up and running again>>

    1. hdd may be bad or disconnected.
    2. bad firmware - you need the jigs to recover.

HDD checks out good technically as far as i can tell (spins up and can see it when plugged into a pc).

which jig(s) should i be looking for? ... and let me guess... not something i can load from usb.

      Thanks!

the jigs are specific for 3511
you may ask a toshiba dealer in your area

there is a test for hdd
hold down 0 and 8 - power on
        release the keys after beep
        670 start
        field 5 and c5 should be 0
if is only hdd you may do it only by usb clip

also check to see if the RAM memory is installed in both the page memory and main memory slots. If there is no memory in the machine it will just sit there at the splash screen.
sigpic No! we never do that with the copier.

Done it a many many times!!

Simply get a new hard drive and throw it in.

Hold down "Clear and "3" buttons and power on.

Perform all steps , but going 3 to 1, not steps 1 to 3. Need this to create partition on new drive and clear nvram.

Download firmware and extract to usb key "JIG IS NOT NEEDED".

Power on in firmware update mode "4" and "9". Follow instructions for read me file included with firmware update. Make sure you read warning text file also.

I have the exact same problem with this machine. Could someone be so kind as to send me a copy of the firmware for this machine. Many thanks in advance: pieinthesky@dodo.com.au
