The actuator that detects the position of the adf is located on the top left rear of the copier. When you raise the adf you should see it. If a document is on the adf tray and the adf is in the raised position if you depress the actuator that message should go away. That should inform you that the sensor is working properly. Make sure that the adf is not missing a small tan rectangular piece of plastic that the actuator should come in contact with when it is in the down position.

Hi, Thanks for your reply,When there is a document in the Adf tray and the Adf is in the raised position, even I press the actuator the msg does not go away. (I try on an old machine, the msg go away).I change the ADF still getting the msg.I also change the 2 sensors of the actuator, same msg. Thus is a new machine from the box. Is there any enablement configuration that need to be change in NVM?RgdsJean Paul

I would also look at where the adf connects to the copier and check for bent pins. Also what model adf are you using?

          Hi,
I check where the adf is connected to the machine, all pins seen ok on the plug.
I also try an old Adf which was working ok on another ES 2551C, same problem on my 2051C
On the new ADF box it is written MD-0105.
Do you think we should do a Firmware upgrade?

          Thanks & Rgds

If the firmware is out of date I would definitely update it. The most current is 2190.
