I delivered a used A3 e2515AC colour copier for a four day rental. The event started Sunday at 1:00 PM. No other copier vendor in my local market was willing to deliver until Monday AM. I charged $1,000.00 for delivery, set up on a single PC and pick up. Scanning only via USB. My only real cost besides three hours of my time was a Magenta toner. $125.00 . Plus two hours of free time prepping and cleaning the copier before delivery.
A couple of things I learned.
1. I knew the event would only print maybe 1,000 pages but they needed 11 x 17. I decided to include 2,000 free prints and supply 2,000 sheets of four paper sizes creating maximum convenience for the customer. I can reclaim left over paper.
2. There is a whole lot less parking challenges at the downtown convention center on Sunday 10:00 AM.
3. I did not anticipate that the PC that would be dedicated to printing, did not have an ethernet port in the side of the computer. I brought with me two 10' ethernet cables and a wireless router. Useless. I had to leave/comeback with a 10" USB printer cable. The rental PC did not have a wireless card in it. I wanted a longer cable so that the user sitting on the left side of the copier could simply reach into the central output tray, The USB port on the copier is located on the right side of the copier.
4. The customer requested a finisher. I had a floor model finisher and I thought it would work but it was jamming all of the time. At the last minute, I offered to supply a nice $50 manual stapler and the customer accepted.
5. I supplied a free USB drive to the customer for scanning. They said scanning would not be important to them.
6. After I installed the Toshiba Universal 2 print driver and tested, I noticed when I right clicked the driver, there was an option to scan.
7. To print from a USB drive inserted into the copier, you have to touch the print icon on the LCD and press the drop down box to find the USB. Several keystrokes. Toshiba has a free copier app, USB Auto Launcher, that when a USB is inserted, the LCD panel will automatically read the USB drive and display the contents. Touch the file you want and press print.
8. There are several convention centers in my home city. I went to the wrong one at first and wasted 20 minutes. I now know the best way to access the convention center and how to arrange quick parking inside one of their loading docks when I pick up the copier in the middle of a Wednesdy workday downtown.
9. Things often take longer than you expect. I was glad to deliver Sunday AM and be in no rush.
10. A 3rd party scan of my copier website revealed that " short term copier rentals" was the most common search phrase.
