Toshiba e389cs with Apple OSX V12 Monterey

Has anyone attempted to install a Toshiba e389cs (aka Lexmark XC4140) with the very latest Apple operating system known as Monterey?

Officially neither Toshiba nor Lexmark has published print drivers for Monterey.

Toshiba offers a print driver up to OSX 11 Big Sur.

I have to install tomorrow on 2x older Mac Book Pros and the very latest iMac 27". in a luxury home office. This desktop computer is an all in one with the CPU and SSD built into the astonishingly good Retina monitor along with 802.11ac Wi-fi connectivity and a 1 GB Ethernet port. The customer does not want to run a network cable from the iMac.

The customer is a Property Manager/Developer with low end print requirements.

I am hoping this all works via AirPrint but I invite any suggestions.

I would caution against AirPrint. Use LPD and point to an IP address and make sure you are using latest Driver. I have installed on Monterey several times now with no issue on a 389cs as well as other Toshiba models, I use the drivers Toshiba provides via their website. After BigSur and the whole encryption certificate fail to print issue, I just point straight to LPD. Maybe this update fixed all of that.

These are the drivers posted. So use the second one? The customer only requires scan to email. I will use the LDP method pointed at an IP address.

Mac OSX 11.0 and later, ICA Scan Driver
      05/07/21 V4.4.0

Mac OSX 11.0 and later,UPD Print Driver Color
      05/07/21 V1.1.0

... the InTouch Center said that OSX 12 was not yet supported. ToshibaTec Japan did post a press release saying that eBN/eBN2 models were supported. The e389cs is neither using Lexmark's eTask operating system.

Agree with this. Airprint is OK, but it really lags and drags sending the print jobs.

Just an FYI for the IT side - if you have a customer that goes from an Intel chipset to the M1, they absolutely have to reinstall the correct driver. If they do a backup from Time Machine to their new system, the driver will read that it is installed and the machine is there, but nothing will print.

Probably a dumb question, but I'll ask anyways - Since it's a Lexmark OEM, would a Lexmark driver work for it or just a generic postscript?

... Toshiba only provides a generic Universal Print driver (UPD). Lexmark provides only the same.

I may not be out of the woods, as I installed the print driver via the IP address & LPD method. I could see the duplex unit and not the 2nd cassette. So likely a call back when an official OSX 12 Monterey print driver is available or I did something wrong.

05/07/21 V1.1.0 is the only option available on the Toshiba site. Are they using Native Apple applications or 3rd party (Chrome, Reader, Outlook). This could have an impact on printing and functionality. Apple doesn't like to share or play well with others... in my humble opinion.
