I'm not authorised to update firmware on this particular Toshiba e-Studio 6530c MFP. I just want to scan images to USB using the USB port on the front of the copier.

It's frustrating when you know it can do it. I've only been able to scan to USB once on this copier and that was to a Kingston DataTraveler 2GB stick. I then put an identical stick in, and it didn't show up anywhere.

I'm having to save the image to the copier's hard drive and copy the file over the network to the USB stick in the PC.

hey have you tried to scan to the usb port on the side? where the firmware update is done? (not sure if this works) just as a test to see if there is a problem with the front usb jack on the copier?

just looked at the firmware .. no updated to the usb scan function that i found....

FYI latest here in CANADA is v115
      I fix copiers ...Well Sorta

No, I've not tried that. I'll give it a go next week. Is it near the ethernet port?

The firmware on the copier is v115.

I had another look at the copier today. There is a USB port near the ethernet port but it is a Type B connection whereas the USB port on the front of the copier is Type A.

I'm beginning to think that USB sticks are a bit of a hit and miss affair with this copier!

hello, Ive been in the copier business for 19 years and have been working on kyocera and konica minolta. We are starting the Toshiba line mostly on the high end color and I wanted to know where I can get techincal info so I can get a head start . the machines that we are going to support are the 6530c.

Some newer (1gb and up) have a "hidden" program on them that kills the scan feature on the Toshiba's (and other copiers). This program causes an auto run type feature to execute and since the copier o/s is not windows or mac it doesn't run and will not let the usb drive be used. I forget the name (I think it is the U3 auto run) but if you google the name of the program then you can find the remover for this. And formatting the stiick does not remove this program only the remover will do this.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!
