    Cloud Connect question

I finally received all my rights for Cloud Connect, and I thought I would create groups for firmware updates. What I found is when I do an individual machine, I could set firmware levels to update to the highest level, but when I tried with groups, I have to manually select the firmware upgrade, which means I have to manually change the firmware level every time there is an update.

Is there a way to have the group automatically update to the highest lever?

    Thanks for your replies.

Forgive my ignorance... Are you saying the single device policy automatically updates itself every time a new firmware version is released, but the group policy does not and you have to manually configure each time a ne firmware is released? When I go to groups and create a new policy, I choose firmware for the selected group and it automatically selects the latest version, but once I create and save the policy is set in stone there is no automatic update, otherwise we could not trust the policies. I don't want a new firmware that could cause potential problems on my customers network to update unless I create it and specifically tell it to. Just guessing, but something like that could make Toshiba liable in the event of a major screw up.

      Re: Cloud Connect question

When I created a firmware policy for one machine I got this option:

      single firmware.jpg correction.jpg

And when I go into policies for groups I get this:

      group firmware.jpg

I'm new to this which is why I am asking, but it seems the first method (single device) seems it will keep current whenever it is released, and the second, (group) will only update to the level that is selected, so when a new firmware comes out, you have to go back and manually reconfigure.

I learned something new today. I did not know that the single policy would auto update. I always set as temporary policy so I never gave the policy the opportunity to update. I must and try this!! I am going to go out on a limb and say that I have not seen any other options but the ones you posted, but I'm also the guy who just learned a new trick.

Sorry I see the error in my thinking. The first list needs to be created, I didn't realize that, because it was created before I had access. So I do need to create a group for each model update, and maintain it after the next update comes out.

I have a new question regarding Cloud Connect, and I figured I would use this thread instead of starting a new one.

We just delivered a couple machine to a law firm, one was registered at set up and the second one needed 3820 registered during install. The deliverer told me he had to set both devices to 0 because the machines would constantly display an hourglass on the screen. He said their security wouldn't allow the connection.

I haven't had that issue before, is that how the machines behave when their cloud connect port is blocked? I imagine there's a way to change the port, but I'm not sure if I could find out which ports are allowed.

08-3820-1 enables ECC. If 0, the feature is turned off. Are both copiers at V1610 firmware?

Did both copiers print out a confirmation page after a few minutes that they connected to the ECC server?

Yes their IT can block the port used for ECC to connect. Banks do it all the time.

                  Re: Cloud Connect question

Recently I've been doing a lot of remote work so I've been working on our cloud connect database when I'm slow. When the office publishes a delivery report, I've been taking the serial numbers and running them through Cloud Coonect, if they don't come up, I send in a registration request. Some of the machines show active as soon as they are registered, and most go inactive. I'm at a remote office location, but my understanding is they set up 3820 at setup, but I know many machines went out without the form being submitted, so when our preowned machines are being registered it's still reporting to it's old company.

I noticed one machine showed active and the other showed inactive, so I texted the delivery driver, and asked him to reset 3820 on the inactive machine, he texted me back saying he had to turn both off, because of the hourglass that would not clear. After he ran 3820 on the machine I did see it appear in the active list, just without meters or toner status, so if the port is being blocked, I would have thought there would have been no change in status, and yes Firmware is current
