E-Studio 350 Scan to Email help

Hey guys, I'm having a scan to email problem with a Toshiba E-Studio 350. I know that 90% of the time scan to email will run and have no problems with simply just inserting the SMTP address and authentication if required.

This particular unit will not scan to email no matter what I do and I was wanting to know if you all can help. I'm trying to scan to email using the ISP which is ATT's SMTP relay server. They have given me the SMTP address and I have a good known working username and password for the authentication process. Everytime that I try to scan to an email address, I get the C269 error and scan to email failed (after about a minute of waiting). If I put in no authentication, it fails immediately and gives the same code.

I know that I have several choices of what type of authentication to use, but none of them worked. The tech at ATT seems to think that thier server requires an SSL ecryption to authenticate and that's the reason that I cannot send an email.

Is there something that I'm doing wrong? Thanks

Did you set sender's name on e350. Some mail servers does not accept and sends an e-mail by a unknown sender.

I'll never ask if I didn't check user manual, service manual, parts list, BSI/TNI/TAD... web, existing threads.

No, I didn't do that... I didn't realize that you had to. I'll try that and see. Thanks

Make sure the port is correct also. Usually 25 but might be 587 or could be anything.
I will not give you service manuals or firmware.

hey, I did make sure that they used port 25 and they said that they didn't.. they used port 465. I changed it to that port with the same results. It waits for about a minute and then error's out.

I also did the NIC intialize 08-693 about 20 times and hit the intialize button with the same results...

Do you have the print/scan enabler or just the print enabler? With out the print/scan como enabler or the print and the scan enabler you will not be able to scan to file or email.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

I think I understand what you said, but not really..

Are you saying that it will not scan to email from a gmail or a yahoo account?

Have you tried using teh ip address instead of the name? Also make sure the username and password are included as well as which type of login(login,plain,auto...) is needed.

Hey, Mr Spock... that's exactly what I don't understand (type of login).. Which do I use?

I can only use the ip address being that if I type in the name, it fails immediately, but if I put the ip address it waits for about a minute and then fails.. Why does it do that?

I do have the right authentication for this account to access the server being that it was verified by the tech on the other end of the phone and I was using that. I do know that I was using the right port number as well.

Help shine some light on the type of authentication if you don't mind. Thanks.

It fails immediately because the dns info is not setup or does not resolve the name of the server as the ip address is "direct" connect to the server. Most exchange servers use the "login" type of auth. That is trial and error to get one to work unless they tell you which it is. You can also try the full account name as well as just the prefix (name@email.com = full name, name = prefix).
Also is the server requiring ssl or tls or not could also cause issues. if youare on site (or can have the customer do it) goto job status>log>send and see what the error code is and post it that might help as well.

                          Hey Mr. Spock...

The server does ask for SSL authentication and I think that is where I'm getting hung up at.

I did try using all of the authentication types with no luck.

It's interesting because I was use the correct DNS server ip addresses and it still couldn't resolve....

I almost believe that there is not much that can be done at this point unless I create an SMTP server inside of their network and route the domain from there.

lemme ask... this ATT ISP ... is it residential or buisness? if residential have you tried no auth and password ? here our local isp's (as long as you are inside their network) dont require auth....also if you are outside their network you cant send email to their mail servers as the ports to the outside of their network are closed...

hey have you set up a email account on you laptop while hooked up to their lan usiing the copier's account setting they provided you with?
